1. Introduction

European Tyre Distributors B.V. ("ETD") is committed to conducting its business activities in an environmentally responsible manner and to supporting the transition towards a circular economy.

As an importer and distributor of tyres, wheels and related products within the European Union, ETD recognises the importance of sustainable packaging and responsible packaging waste management. ETD therefore strives to comply with the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR), together with all applicable national legislation implementing or supplementing the Regulation.

This Policy outlines ETD's approach to packaging compliance, supplier engagement, documentation, traceability and continuous improvement.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to:

  • Packaging associated with products imported, distributed or placed on the market by ETD;
  • Primary, secondary and tertiary packaging;
  • Transport and logistics packaging used within ETD operations;
  • Suppliers, manufacturers and business partners providing products or packaging to ETD;
  • Relevant ETD employees involved in procurement, logistics, quality, compliance and sales activities.

3. Regulatory Commitment

ETD is committed to:

  • Monitoring and complying with applicable provisions of Regulation (EU) 2025/40;
  • Monitoring delegated acts, implementing acts and future amendments related to the PPWR;
  • Supporting the objectives of packaging waste prevention, recyclability and resource efficiency;
  • Integrating packaging compliance into internal quality management and supplier approval processes;
  • Cooperating with competent authorities where legally required.

4. Packaging Design and Waste Prevention

ETD supports the PPWR objective of reducing unnecessary packaging and packaging waste.

Where reasonably achievable and commercially practical, ETD aims to ensure that packaging:

  • Is limited to the minimum necessary volume and weight required to maintain product protection and safety;
  • Avoids unnecessary empty space;
  • Supports efficient transportation and storage;
  • Is designed with consideration for recyclability and material recovery;
  • Contributes to waste prevention and resource efficiency objectives.

5. Supplier Compliance Requirements

ETD expects suppliers and manufacturers to maintain compliance with all applicable packaging legislation and to provide supporting evidence in the form of DoC upon request.

6. Substances of Concern and Product Safety

ETD supports the objective of limiting substances that may adversely affect human health, recycling processes or environmental performance.

7. Documentation, Technical Information and Traceability

ETD maintains procedures designed to support packaging compliance and traceability.

8. Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)

Where ETD is subject to Extended Producer Responsibility obligations under applicable national legislation, ETD is committed to fulfilling all applicable obligations.

9. Internal Governance and Responsibilities

Management is responsible for providing appropriate resources, oversight and support for packaging compliance activities.

10. Audits and Continuous Improvement

ETD seeks to continuously improve its packaging compliance processes and environmental performance.

11. Policy Review

This Policy shall be reviewed periodically and may be amended to reflect legislative changes, regulatory guidance and business developments.
